Raji and Vardhana, Ingle Farm

For Vardhana and Raji, the path to home ownership was anything but straightforward. With rising rental costs and the challenges of saving for a deposit on a single income, the aspirations often felt distant. Saving for a traditional deposit was slow going and every visit to the bank ended in disappointment due to strict lending requirements. This changed when they discovered HomeSeeker SA.

Manvi, Blair Athol

For many young Australians, the dream of owning a home can feel out of reach – especially in a competitive property market. But for 28-year-old university lecturer Manvi, HomeSeeker SA made that dream a reality.

Having moved to Australia in 2018 as an international student, Manvi worked hard to build a career and a life in her new home. Becoming an Australian citizen was a proud milestone. Still, it was the purchase of her first home that truly made her feel grounded.

Help to Buy

The Australian Government’s Help to Buy Scheme is a new initiative designed to support more Australians to buy a home. If you’ve saved what you can but are still a little short of being able to buy a home that meets your needs, Help to Buy may be able to bridge the gap.

Whether you're a first-time buyer or someone returning to home ownership, Help to Buy offers support to secure a place to call home. For eligible buyers, the Australian Government will contribute up to 30% (existing homes) or 40% (newly built homes) toward the purchase price.

What is an ‘affordable home’?

This means home buyers can continue to meet their basic living costs such as groceries, transport, education, healthcare, and clothing.

The South Australian Government is increasing housing supply and supporting more South Australians to have a roof over their heads by developing more housing throughout the state and supporting the building of more affordable housing that can be purchased by eligible low-to-moderate income South Australian home buyers.
